Great movie. Easily one of my all time favorites. Well, the alternate
American version. I have nothing against the original storywise, but the
Jerry Goldsmith score did nothing for me, which was weird for me because I
am usually a huge Goldsmith fan. Tangerine Dream score way better in
American edit. This movie is what got me into TD, which helped me become a
fan of old style electronic music in general. But a great film with good
actors, haunting soundtrack, good effects and camera work, and a
interesting take on Brothers Grimm type fairy tales. You could compare this
film to a mixture of Grimm and Tolkien. The darkness of Grimm with the
mystical/borderline religious themes of Tolkien. If you like 80s fantasy
movies, and good vs. Evil stories, this is your film. Gets pretty emotional
a little bit into the film though. Not gonna say what happened for people
who have not seen this film, but back as a young person the scene
emotionally ruined me. 27 now and it still makes me tear up a bit.

Legend (1985) I think is largely underrated. It's a really fascinating fantasy mixing fairy tale like elements into the story. And if nothing else, it's worth watching for Tim Curry's performance alone. His monologue at the beginning is outstanding. And then later his sparring with Mia Sara's character is so well performed. Every scene with him is just fantastic.
