Co dělá člověka... člověkem? V celovečerním filmu „Duše" od Pixar Animation Studios se představuje středoškolský učitel hudební výchovy Joe Gardner (v českém znění Václav Kopta), který dostane životní šanci hrát v proslulém jazzovém klubu. Jeden chybný krok ho však přenese z ulic New Yorku do Neznáma před, což je fantastické místo, kde čerstvě narozené duše získávají před vstupem na Zemi vlastnosti, návyky i zlozvyky. Joe však na svém životě lpí a tak spojí síly s duší číslo 22 (v českém znění Hana Vagnerová), která však vůbec nechápe, čím je zrovna lidský život tak výjimečný. A jak se Joe zoufale snaží duši číslo 22 vysvětlit, co je na životě tak skvělé, sám získává odpovědi na otázky, které si sám nesčetněkrát kladl.

Hodnocení a recenze

Looked like a bunch of sloppy jallopy copies, of all kinds of short skits tied in with the past, even a scene on one of the street vents blowing Marilyn Monroe's dress up in the air. Only in this case Joes body while inhabited by 22 got the fan effect while laying on it's back spread eagle with the boring tie floating in the air. Welcome to Earth 22!

Soul is a beautiful film, with fun charcters and a great story. When the folk music is echoing on the ship in this it reminds me of Oblivion, in that film music was being played among a destroyed world and it was beautiful, making the ship scene beautiful here. Soul however gets alittle much into new age and the theology of it is not 100% right. We have a purpose and that is to follow Jesus and be saved. This film seems to try to say different, so I can't say to watch it.

I felt like they made Jamie Foxx a more muted character (Joe Gardner). I wish they would have pushed this movie a bit further, more controversial, less quirky and aloof-- sort of like "It's a Wonderful Life" meets "Burlesque" meets "Inside Out". I think that as a kid-friendly movie, it was not as enchanting as it should have been. I enjoyed watching it, but it kind of made me antsy for more of the Heavenly realm and less about jazz music and the be-all-you-can-be inspiration.
