About this movie

From the director of Cloverfield comes Let Me In, a darkly haunting and provocative thriller. Abby (Chloe Moretz -- Kick Ass) is a mysterious 12-year-old who moves next door to Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee -- The Road), a social outcast who is viciously bullied at school. In his loneliness, Owen forms a profound bond with his new neighbour but he can't help noticing that Abby is like no one he has met before. As a string of grisly murders grips his wintry New Mexico town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl is hiding a dark secret. 2010 Hammer Let Me In Productions, LLC. Having read the book, and seen the original movie this version lost the horror factor. Still not the worst movie out there.

It's not scary or bloody enough to be a true horror movie, but it is a stunning piece of filmmaking. The performances by the two young leads Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloe Grace Moretz bring a touching humanity to their characters (despite one of them being a vampire) and display captivating chemistry whenever they are on screen together. The film has its share of chilling moments but the real impact lies in the inevitable tragedy of the story and the fragile sensitivity of Owen and Abby's relationship. 5/5.
