La historia de la oficialidad y tropa del imperio del Japón en esas islas que se hicieron masacrar en su empeño por defender el bastion por el ejército de EE UU y en donde se obtuvo la famosa toma de los marines subiendo la bandera en el Monte Suribashi. Muy buen film de Clint Eastwood. (Cine bélico histórico)

A los EEUU les costo muchas bajas ,en un dia murieron 25000 soldados EEUU...se creian que la iban a tomar fasil porque no había nada ..pero los nipones .tenian cuevas por toda la isla ...y de ay los vietnamitas copiaron la forma de combatir

It is very rare you get to see WW2 from the Japanese perspective. It is also difficult to understand their ideology from western morals. Driven by fanatical beliefs until the end. But this film brought so much human elements that for me is one of the best historically-based war movies in modern times.
