A gorgeously flawed work. Liberty's Secret needs an experienced editor to the writer down and talk to them about narrative opportunity. Make no mistake: this movie is in the right place at the right time. In the wake of the 2016 Trump/Clinton post-truth election, this movie should bloom. A senator (played by John Lepard) seeking the Republican nomination compromises his centrist principles to bring on board a small-town singer (Jaclene Wilk). She promptly compromises her principles to fall in love with the senator's campaign assistant director (Nikki Levine). The movie has structural problems. The first act sees the father of the singer (Chris Lutkin) left behind in the small town, and he spends the critical second act off-screen. The 'evil staffer' pushing the senator to compromise his principles is quietly dropped from the cast in the third act and neither succeeds nor fails.. The crisis point in the third act takes no advantage of the political pomp which has been built up thus far. These are missed narrative opportunities. The cast (including a solid turn by Alfrelynn J. Roberts) did well. Watch, enjoy, cherish this movie.

In a time when politics is turning all the tables, there's no better escape than a film with the perfect balance of relatability, comedy, and music! Kick back and enjoy this All-American treat! The style pulls viewers back to a time of Technicolor MGM movie-musicals, which is hard to find in new releases. Reminiscent of the beloved new release La La Land, this film resonates with lovers of theater, LGBT, and politics alike. **potential spoilers ahead** In 98 minutes, we experience a character begin in a wholesome religious life and, unlike many films of its kind, Liberty maintains her beliefs without becoming a martyr as she steps out of the closet and embraces who she is. It is a truly refreshing tale.

This is the film the LGBTQI community has been waiting for all these years. With an all singing, all dancing cast and the overview of political maneuvering , this film is not only fun, but educational. Personally as a member of clergy I find the depiction of the attitude of clergy is honest and revealing. here is a film not to miss. Instead buy a copy, and make a point to watch it regularly. The portrayal of these two women as their their relationship deepens is realistic. The reaction of a pastor to homosexuality within his own family is atypical. In fact this could have been a real life rerun.
