Kevin Kline stars as George Monroe, a divorcee who is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Hayden Christensen as Sam, George's contemptuous teenage son, who spends his time doing drugs, engaging in small-time prostitution and avoiding his dying father. In a last-chance effort to fulfill one of his life's dreams, George, an architect, begins rebuilding an old house. He enlists Sam's help in the hopes that the project will enable him to fix his troubled relationship with Sam, and with his ex-wife, whom he abandoned.

The movie itself is well put together elaborate in its own way. I believe the science of the story being told is a moderate feeling of grudge a struggle. I personally like the deathly shock towards the end , it did begin to go down hill fast.

Few people see life with such perspective as those who are losing theirs, this movie captures the awakening of a man who spent most of his life lost and alienating his family. Kevin Kline is magnificent. This movie has a soul that speaks to the part of us that understands our time is limited and shows us its never too late to make a change.

Kevin Klein did so well! The entire cast was authentic and very believable! Every time I watch it I cry, the scene where the dad tells the mom that he has been faithful in his love for her...... where are my tissues?!
