A character study and New York story reminiscent of French New Wave Classics, Lily is a visceral debut from director Matt Creed based on the experiences of writer-actor Amy Grantham.
"Lily" shows one young woman's transformation from quiet desperation to hopeful recovery. The film realistically captures the many challenges Lily must go through--basically on her own--as she completes breast cancer treatment. The distant relationships with her boyfriend and mother pale in comparison with the closeness she finds with friends. Lily is a finely crafted and quietly observant film worth watching.
