Looking forward to watching this film. I can not dispute the film is visually striking, though all actors seem to be stunted... it doesn't meet its full potential. Whilst the actors are very good in their own right the character they portray and the history surrounding them seems to be why the film is rated so high. It is quite dull, whilst reliving a very important part in abolishing slavery ... I was just bored, but continued to watch in the hope it would get better. It didn't - proves that just because a film as Hollywood awards doesn't make it a good film.

Here's some real-life wheeling and dealing for you. Great drama. I love the scene where Lincoln explains to his cabinet in a nutshell, but with poetic eloquence, exactly what a legal conundrum he's got himself into over slavery. Which explains why the whole move to get the 13th Amendment agreed is such a race against time: he has to scrape the votes together by hook or by crook to get it through the Congress, or thousands of people may be flung back into slavery. And the occasional jokes made me laugh out l

Daniel Day-Lewis again pulls out an outstanding performance as Abraham Lincoln, an actor known for his total commitment to his Characters, (as in My Left Foot.) The movie covers just a brief period of Lincolns life, the loss of his young son, balancing the controversial act of the emancipation of the Slaves, to dealing with the huge loss of life on the battlefields, till his sad end.
