About this movie

Taking fatherly advice is not in Joe Coughlin’s nature. Instead, the WWI vet is a self proclaimed anti-establishment outlaw, despite being the son of the Boston Police Deputy Superintendent. Joe’s not all bad, though; in fact, he’s not really bad enough for the life he’s chosen. Unlike the gangsters he refuses to work for, he has a sense of justice and an open heart, and both work against him, leaving him vulnerable time and again—in business and in love. Driven by a need to right the wrongs committed against him and those close to him, Joe heads down a risky path that goes against his upbringing and his own moral code. Leaving the cold Boston winter behind, he and his reckless crew turn up the heat in Tampa. And while revenge may taste sweeter than the molasses that infuses every drop of illegal rum he runs, Joe will learn that it comes at a price.

Ben Affleck is actually a better director than actor but he has honed his skills since the late 90s as an actor he runs hot and cold. In my opinion this film is not as unwatchable as some reviewers have proclaimed. But do not get it twisted this is not the Godfather or Miller's Crossing either somewhere in between. But I give mr. Affleck respect because I can tell he was dedicated to this project his heart was in it

Omg like others have said one of Bens master pieces like Gigi. Lol nah seriously this movie was such a bore didn't keep me intrigued its like they tried to hard and honestly with a budget of 68 plus million you think you would get a blockbuster. Okay honestly the plot was there but Ben did not deliver and frankly the movie dragged on. I mean if your into novel movies then this is right up your alley. I would say save your money and wait until this movie is free to watch on netflix or amazon prime.

I wanted to like this movie despite its bad reviews. It barely even managed to keep my attention long enough to watch it. I watched it twice to be sure it sucked. Indeed it does. Pick it up from redbox and save a few dollars if you need to be sure for yourself.
