수준에 맞게 결혼할 것! 부자들에겐 그들만의 룰이 존재한다. 뉴요커 레이첼은 남자친구 닉의 절친 결혼식이 열리는 싱가포르로 향한다. 처 음으로 아시아를 방문한다는 설렘도 잠시, 닉의 가족을 만난다는 사실이 걱정 이다. 그런데 알고 보니 닉이 싱가포르에서 가장 부유한 집안의 아들이자 모두가 선 망하는 결혼 후보 1순위 신랑감이었던 것. 레이첼은 사교계 명사들의 질투와 더불어 본인을 영 탐탁지 않아하는 닉의 어머니의 타겟이 되는데… 남친의 재력을 알게 된 순간, 시월드의 문이 활짝 열렸다!

평가 및 리뷰

I notice tons of 5 star and 1 star reviews so I'm going to be different and say 2 and a half stars. The script was for the most part what I'd call "trite", plus overall it wasn't that funny. However there was good acting by Michelle Yeoh, Constance and Awkwafina. Too much overacting by the girl who played Araminta. The only time I laughed out loud was when Awkwafina told Rachel that Eleanor would probably offer $omething in exchange for willfully disappearing.

I enjoyed the whole movie but my favorite person is 'Ashley even with all the money the family had she wasn't a snob like everyone else. The wedding entrance for the bride gets to me every single time I watch it.

Bad writing, bad acting, and the only POC were ALL SERVANTS. It's the quintessential "American in a foreign land" film, but with a modern twist. Still, it's deeply patriarchal and racist.
