Acerca de esta película

Stanley Kubrick directs an all-star cast in Vladimir Nabakov's screenplay of his own once-shocking, now-classic novel, Lolita. When worldly, middle-aged professor Humbert Humbert (James Mason) rents a room from widowed Charlotte Haze (Shelly Winters), he quickly becomes obsessed with her young daughter, Lolita (Sue Lyon). Humbert goes so far as to marry Charlotte to be close to her daughter, but when Charlotte discovers her husband's secret lust, the knowledge leads to her death. Now free to pursue his obsession with his willing, under-aged stepdaughter, Humbert seduces Lolita, unable to control a lust that will destroy him.

Due to the time period of its making, there was hardly any depth, and nothing could even be implied. If you have read the book, you will most likely be fairly disappointed. I recommend the 1997 film adaptation with jeremy irons directed by adrian lyne. Better acting, realistic, and true to the story.

Reading Nabokov's book in high school is what really turned me onto watching both films. I must say though, the 97" Adrian Lyne version was far more daring and provocative. I was throughly intrigued! I highly recommend it to anyone interested in things that are taboo and hidden.

It's very hard for me to choose between the Kubrick and the Lynn versions. I think Kubrick's version is much more witty plus Peter Sellers does an amazing Quilty. I think any true Lolita fan would be pleased by this version but the 97 flick is more accurate and risque.
