āĻā§āĻā§āĻŦāĻ°, ā§¨ā§Ļā§§ā§Ē Good transition from novella to movie. Thoroughly enjoyed the actors- James Mason is always a winner imo- but they've been carefully selected and come up trumps. Its dark and harrowing in some places, others its quite sinister and startling and in others sadness and melancholy.

ā§¨ā§§ āĻā§āĻ˛āĻžāĻ, ā§¨ā§Ļā§¨ā§Ļ This is based on the very good book by Vladimir Nabokov. Herbert Humbert is a very troubled soul from an experience as a 12 year old in love. Dolores, (Lolita), is spoilt & likes to be the centre of attention. At first you like Humbert but as the book/film progress you come to dislike, hate & at the very end almost feel sorry for him (not for long). Read between the lines, all is not what it seems. There are some tough bits. I think Kubrick did a good portrayal of the book.
