The late 1940s. Notorious serial killers Raymond Fernandez (Jared Leto) and Martha Beck (Salma Hayek) leave a bloody trail across the United States. Their lethal scam is simple: lure, swindle, and viciously murder lonely spinsters and lovelorn war widows. As the lust-fuelled lovers continue their killing frenzy, Detectives Elmer C. Robinson (John Travolta) and Charles Hildebrandt (James Gandolfini) struggle with the shocking nature of the crimes, and their own inner demons.
