Rock music icon turned filmmaking auteur, Rob Zombie conjures up a nerve-wracking chiller involving Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ, who receives a wooden box containing a record, a gift from the Lords. Heidi listens and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of Salem's violent past. Is Heidi going mad or are the Lords of Salem returning for revenge on modern day Salem? I can only give this film 3 stars. The premise is quite good. However, the story telling is labored and too long-winded. There is far too many sub-plots in this one that go nowhere and so do not contribute to the overarching story. The film wallows in attempts to be deep and meaningful through overly elaborate and meaningless fantasy-esque sequences. These are poorly handled and detract from the potential story-line rather than contributing to it. Would I watch it again? No. Should you watch it? Perhaps. If you give it a go be aware that this is nothing like Zombie's other films.

the trailer induced me to watch, some of it was silly like the scene were she's riding on a poor goat in chic rock ensemble, try'n to make evil cool, i wish the plot was more complete, could have been interesting

After the absolute delight of 1000 corpses and Devils Rejects I was truly hoping for more but unfortunately Rob Zombie is yet to buy into the trifecta. Moon Zombie was miscast in my opinion.
