LOVE & FRIENDSHIP concerns beautiful young widow Lady Susan Vernon (Kate Beckinsale) who has come to Churchill, the estate of her in-laws, to wait out colourful rumours about her dalliances circulating through polite society. Ratings and reviews

Certainly it looks lavish and is well made and has a couple of humorous moments and the actors did a swell job, but overall, it fell flat for me. Probably down to the source material tbh. With the exception of Mansfield Park, and the shorts, I LOVE Jane Austen's works and the screen adaptations they've inspired, but this one just didn't sparkle for me.

Bought after watching trailer & was looking forward to seeing it. Not exactly let down but was expecting & hoping for a Keira Knightley more comical version of P&P. Trailer showed best bits. Some good acting but characters not very strong and lacked heart. Not very memorable unfortunately. 🤐

Nor will I ever, sadly, till they add subtitles. At which point I'm confident it'll be a 5. But till then...
