Just married, florist Herbert Thompson (Russell Gleason) and wife Bonnie (Shirley Deane) find they're in a financial bind and, after an argument, decide to spend time apart. While Bonnie stays with her parents, John (Jed Prouty) and Louise Jones (Spring Byington), Herbert -- with some help from his well-connected uncle -- tries to win a contract to supply flowers at an upcoming fair. When the scheme goes awry, Herbert must think fast, or else he'll lose not only his shirt but his wife.
