Over deze film

Screen idol and Academy Award-winning superstar Mel Gibson ("Maverick," "Lethal Weapon" series) stars in this mythical futuristic tale from writer-director George Miller ("The Witches of Eastwick"). In this boxoffice winner and critical phenomenon, Mad Max joins forces with nuclear holocaust survivors to defend an oil refinery under siege from a ferocious, marauding horde that plunders the land for gasoline. The winner of five Australian Film Institute Awards, Newsweek calls this a "sensational slam-bang end-of-the-world picture." The New York Times says it's "an extravagant film fantasy...action packed...and] extremely witty." "One of the year's 10 best," raves Time Magazine. Followed by "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" in this enormously successful film series. MPAA Rating: R © 1983 Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. All Rights Reserved

Road Warrior is the cult classic sequel to the original Mad Max. Don't worry about watching the original terrible film since Road Warrior explains everything you need to know about it. In the post apocalypse gas is a precious resource, and Max helps out a colony of good guys escort their gas away from bad guys. That's about it. The action is decent, and the finale is pretty good. The film can be slow at times, but it's an alright post apocalypse action film. Recommend seeing Road Warrior before Fury Road.

While still no feat of cinematic bounty, Mad Max 2 has the charming quality of containing a connected plot line. It also has one unexpected twist that I should have seen coming. Watch it if you want, but definitely do not go out of your way to make the seeing happen.

I first saw this movie as a little kid maybe around 83 on HBO & it's still a great movie today. Then thunder dome came out a few years later & even as a kid I knew a PG13 rating for a Madmax movie wasn't good & it was a very disappointing cinematic experience. But The Roadwarrior is a classic & one of my favorite movies.
