Madurey(Vijay), is a vegetable vendor in a market in Chennai, lives with his mother(Seetha) and two sisters. Anitha(Rakshita), who arrives at the market to do a project falls in love with the hero. Meanwhile, the past of Madurey opens up in a flashback. In the past, he had confronted the local don(Pasupathy). How the past of Madurey trails him in the present is the rest of the movie.
