This is P.T. Anderson's magnum opus and is still my favorite movie of all time. So this review is biased in that regard. I'm a deep thinker and I appreciated this movie because of Anderson's intentionality from the written script to every emotional response and reaction given by a tremendous cast of amazing actors. Every time I see this movie I'm struck by another element of its perfection. It draws me in to the reality that flawed character, brokenness, insecurity, and shame run deep in all our lives. We just need to recognize these moments and feelings will happen and within that narrative we can find our profound beauty.

This was the first PT Anderson movie I had seen and he had me hooked. Typically, these ensemble cast films are basically a bunch of cameos, but this one was so detailed and with a depth that even traditional films lack. I felt a connection, in some way, to each character and have watched this film again and again. The soundtrack is also killer as it has some Aimee Mann originals and Jon Brion contributions. All around a great film!!

This movie, for many people, is a bore. I made it through the first hour and had to stop watching. Brutally boring. It's my opinion that to have any interest in this movie one needs to be a seriously flawed human. This film is as forced as a film can get. They attempted to put 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag.
