The story of Disney's most iconic villain continues in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet hatred between man and the fairies still exists. Aurora's impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration as the wedding serves to unite the Kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors. But, when an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be a family. I wanted to like this movie. The way it ends makes me wonder why it didn't end this way in the original. The sudden changes in character behavior are unrelatable and jarring. The story is driven by coincidence that ham-handedly takes you from one plot development to the next. The unanswered questions of the first would have been better off left as a mystery rather than the shallow and inconsistent retelling in the sequel. But if a decent story is not what you're looking for, it's got a couple cool fight scenes, and I love Jolie.

If you want to see a movie that can go from an all out war to a wedding in less than 10 minutes, this is the movie for you. Then again, Angelina Jolie's flying is beautifully done.
