About this movie

Guillermo del Toro, the Academy Award-nominated writer of Pan's Labyrinth, presents this supernatural thriller that tells the haunting tale of two little girls who disappeared into the woods the day that their parents were killed. When the young sisters are found alive in a decrepit cabin, their uncle (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Game of Thrones) and his girlfriend (Oscar-nominee Jessica Chastain, Zero Dark Thirty) take them in. As they try to introduce the children to a normal life, Annabel (Jessica Chastain) begins to wonder if the traumatized girls are the only guests they have welcomed into their home.

Sorry Mr Del Toro but you can't tell a story. Pan's Labyrinth was ambitious but massively flawed as a narrative and so is this. You spoiled this film by revealing in the first few moments the supernatural entity that was Mama - rather than letting us guess if the kids really were making her up. After that point there was literally no suspense at all!!! None - zilch... And no amount of stylish and well crafted CGI (which is was) was ever going to make up for that! Big shame as the short film this was based upon was really something...

Good movie BUT over an hour into this copy the framerate gets messed up and it becomes jerky for a good several minutes. I've had to request a refund and will be buying elsewhere

Good movie, plenty of jump scares but storyline is little all over the place, but certainly not the worst movie I've ever seen, it's worth a watch
