Guillermo del Toro, the Academy Award-nominated writer of Pan's Labyrinth, presents this supernatural thriller that tells the haunting tale of two little girls who disappeared into the woods the day that their parents were killed. When the young sisters are found alive in a decrepit cabin, their uncle (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Game of Thrones) and his girlfriend (Oscar-nominee Jessica Chastain, Zero Dark Thirty) take them in. As they try to introduce the children to a normal life, Annabel (Jessica Chastain) begins to wonder if the traumatized girls are the only guests they have welcomed into their home.

Good premise and special effects, but not much else worth seeing here. Two-dimensional characters doing irrational things in an absurdly fast-paced storyline makes for a mediocre movie at best...tack on a stupid, sappy ending to drop the whole experience below average, and you have "Mama".

I have two small children the same ages as the girls on the movie and my youngest is much like Lily so this movie made an impact on me probably wouldn't make sense to ppl without children or ppl without a heart but everyone else will enjoy it. Only bad thing i can say is that the scary parts weren't as scary as i imagined they would be.

I dont know wht ppl are talking about tht is wasnt good..this is one of the best thriller with a bit of horror ive seen in years. ..i have seen. So man horror movies n right now nothing is original anymore .remakes copies,same stories,,ect,,.,but this was actually good it was diffrent ,mama was ugly creepy i loved it..the four stars is the ending could had been a lil better..but overall great movie.in my.top twenty list ..
