I wouldn't own this movie but its worth watching if you want a unique story and a bit of thrill one night. This movie borders on the line of classic thriller/horror that is more about the anticipation and suspense than how much gore can be thrown in every scene. As previous comments state, the ending is a little 'meh' but I feel it was suiting to the story.

While it seems like a cheap horror film, Del Toro has made me fall in love all over again. The beautiful soundtrack and the development of the characters go hand in hand as the story unravels into a work of pure unease. While there are a few cheap jump scares, the animation and acting that portrays "Mama" is stunning, which is mainly what makes this so memorable. If you enjoyed "The Babadook," I would highly suggest this work!

Good premise and special effects, but not much else worth seeing here. Two-dimensional characters doing irrational things in an absurdly fast-paced storyline makes for a mediocre movie at best...tack on a stupid, sappy ending to drop the whole experience below average, and you have "Mama".
