Tietoja tästä elokuvasta

On August 7, 1974, a young Frenchman named Philippe Petit stepped out on a wire illegally rigged between the World Trade Center's twin towers in New York. After dancing for nearly an hour on the wire, he was arrested, taken for psychological evaluation, and brought to jail before he was finally released. This documentary incorporates Petit's footage to show the numerous extraordinary challenges he faced in completing the artistic crime of the century.

This is a great documentary. I highly recommended it to viewers. I saw the movie, "The Walk", in the movie theater and the blu ray player. I don't remember hearing about the Man on Wire on TV news. I was 5 years old at that time until I found out who is Philippe Petit when I got older. My husband saw Petit walking on the wire between the towers on TV news when he was almost 6 years old. Philippe Petit's dream finally came true. He did it!

I had a HUGE crush on Philippe after seeing him perform with Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey. My awesome mom staked out the L.A. Colosseum's parking lot between shows and flagged him and his friend down. He was delighted to pose for a photo with me and autograph my circus program. He drew a stick figure of a tightrope walker on a slackrope over a circus ring then signed it "To Tammy from the top of New York" on a photo of the historic walk that was in the program. It's my happiest adolescent memory. :-)

What a way to look back on an almost forgotten part of my childhood. To see the Twin Towers in their glory brand new is wonderful in a melancholy way. Phillipe's character and spirit demonstrate what independent thought and determination will yield with absolute focus.
