A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came
from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the
symbol of hope for all mankind.

Given all the rather negative reviews you can find here and elsewhere, I was dreading to watch a rather poor adaptation of what is ultimately the epitome of the Superhero. As it turns out, I was rather pleasantly surprised that most of the story was fresh and took very interesting turns. Yes, there is not really any humour, but then neither is there in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy. What appealed to me the most is the visual effects and the soundtrack but the story itself had much in its favour. Gone is the tension between Lois and Clark which prompts you to wonder whether she'll ever find out his true identity. That she is part of the discovery process of his true origins is one refreshing aspect of the story I enjoyed more than I expected. The Daily Planet is also mostly irrelevant, or at least not as prominent as one would be used to if you're familiar with the original Superman movie or the various TV series. This allows for a fuller focus on the Kryptonian storyline with its larger than life "science", madness and sheer power. Yes the last 45 minutes or so are pure destructive chaos but it reflects the level of power we're dealing with. Awesome, overall

You'll enjoy this movie throughout if you're a superman fan. Action is high paced and entertaining despite a not so strong plot which can be forgiven (as if Superman of Christoper Reeve had an amazing story...) only downside for me was the actor playing Zod who I could not get into otherwise Henry Cavill like Ben Affleck as Batman nail their character beautifully.

My whole childhood involved the original superman movies and i was very apprehensive about tarnishing those memories however I was blown away by this latest version. From start to finish it sent tingles down my spine . How anyone can rate this movie poor is beyond me. My only hope is that the sequel which is apparently in production doesn't ruin this but with a title of batman versus superman I am somewhat worried but maybe I might be suprised who knows.
