The cinematography is beautiful and etheral. The plot feels like, and the editing flows like a dark fantasy comic from the 80's. Nick Cage delivers the exact performance that the internet has come to expect of him and Linus Roache is so good you would think he actually led a cult at one point in his life. His charisma on screen mixed with Cage's fun mentality of life, made for the perfect duality of redemption from good and redemption from evil. THIS MOVE IS NOT AT ALL FOR KIDS HOWEVER, EVEN WITH THE BEAUTIFUL COLORS AND ANIMATED SCENES. This movie sets itself apart from other "kill house" style films where the protagonist burns through mini-boss after mini-boss in his quest for the big boos. Most notably is the fact that at 1hr and 15min into the movie, the title screen splashed across as if I had watched an 1hr 15min prologue. And honestly unless I had moved my cursor to check what the timestamp was, I was already so lost and caught up in the movie that I hadnt noticed how long I had been watching before the title splash. The movie is just brilliant, and works on every level you want it to.

I'm nominating this as one of the ten worst movies I've ever seen. I'm completely convinced that this was written by a 15 year old boy. It is a collection of scenes that are disjointed and pointless. Nicholas Cage plays a lumberman living in the woods with his homely GF in a cabin with a huge window box for a bedroom. All sorts of weird things happen, characters come and go without any real purpose and Cage goes from a lumberman to a skilled metal worker making a magical battle ax which he wields like a ninja master, His badly injured character defeats demons in single combat and appears unstoppable. This is mindless, moronic and almost unwatchable.. If you really like Nicholas Cage and want to watch this, get drunk first, it will help a lot.

This film played out like a death metal album. It's build up to the end was gradual at first and then took off like a cocaine and LSD fueled rocket ship. The emotions displayed by Nicholas Cage were so raw that I couldn't help but be empathetic to his plight which made the ensuing incredible violence all the more satisfying. This isn't your typical horror/fantasy/revenge film, it puts you right into the passenger seat in a car headed straight to a visceral hell with a Nic Cage at the wheel brandishing an insane, rage filled, toothy smile.
