Marty is a 34-year-old butcher whose Italian family is constantly after him to get married. He meets plain-looking schoolteacher Clara. They are both lonely, unglamorous people who have resigned themselves to their unloved lives. But they manage, in time, to grope their way to love.

Lovely, touching movie. Ernest Borgnine was great in this. Hits home with some of us who are less than gorgeous. Though I actually thought Marty was kinda' handsome! Paddy Chayevsky wrote a wonderful screenplay.

I have always liked this movie. And it really made Ernest Borgenine one if my favorite actors because of it. Boy, that Mickey Spilaney, he sure can write women! Lol

Saw it when I was a girl, could watch it over and over and over. TREAT YOURSELF, SEE IT!
