Sam (Culkin) can't seem to forget the day he was beaten at school by the class bully, George. His teenage brother Rocky (Morgan) won't let him forget, either. The movie was going good but during the middle of it , it just went nowhere . During their boat ride they stop the boat and told George why they brought him to the boat by playing  truth or dare and George gets upset and then they pushed him into the water and George dies and they buried him and then it follows them coping with the fact that George died . It's like they went nowhere with the movie. I think they should've added more scenes leading to the truth. The actors were good. The plot to the movie is good  Overall, mean creek was a pointless piece of garbage. I just couldn't believe that this movie went nowhere with the plot.

The story is a boy who gets beat up. Happens quite often. Now say it's your brother, what would you do to the bully? How far would you be willing to go? I loved the movie. The script, the camera shots, the characters, the actors, the all around story was great to me.

What I love particularly about this movie is the realistic scenario it presents. Read up on any youth-committed killings, and crimes in general, and you will often find that many of them are results of "accidents" -- revenge schemes spun out of control in the heat of bitter emotions. I thought this movie viewed the whole "bully" theme at a unique glance. It brings you to reflect on the different perspectives of each character. All of the young actors here (now adults) put on believable performances; there are so many complex attributes to these characters that none of them feel like archetypes. Josh Peck's character starts out as your typical schoolyard bully, but then we see there is a likable side to him that's also a bit of a try-hard and very socially inexperienced. Really, the theme of the movie revolves around this group of youngsters coming to terms with an irreversible act, and I think it perfectly captures that mental process. What did we do? What now? I wouldn't say this was a tearjerker, but the ending certainly sticks with you. Everything from the cinematography, to the soundtrack is done masterfully.
