MEGAN LEAVEY is based on the true life story of a young marine corporal (Kate Mara) whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their deployment in Iraq. When she is assigned to clean up the K9 unit after a disciplinary hearing, Leavey identifies with a particularly aggressive dog, Rex, and is given the chance to train him. Over the course of their service, Megan and Rex completed more than 100 missions until an IED explosion injures them, putting their fate in jeopardy. Actors tell an interesting tale, but the dog is the hero. According to the byline, the marine, Megan Leavey does over 100 missions...But, we only see three. So, where in the credits is this dog? Where is Rex? Kate Mara is convincing as a "lone wolf", but I think the movie could have been extended somewhat to include more history with her & the dog. Like, how does she overcome Rex's aggression? Even with this missing information, the story is nicely told, and does deserve a tear or two.

This story is fake. She made up everything for the movie. My brother was there with her. Cann was the K9 handler that died. Which they change his name. She took the dog from another marine that wanted to retire him. He wrote a book about it. It’s called REX.

Is this a lifetime M.O.W?? Cause its really coming across as one haha dang so Netflix series are UHD and this is on grainy 1970s movie stock.. Well bless my heart SHUG haha sorry.. Its a Canine Heroic tale, u kinda gotta give up the goods.... Seriously though, heads up, military personnel this isnt for you and its obvious that the target demo is canine fans... Enough said.
