Based on the highly praised novel by James McBride, and filled with exceptional battle scenes and action, it's a gripping and inspiring story that will touch the goodness within us all and never let go.

A wartime film from a different perspective... I'm glad that we can see an example on the screen that Black Americans did have a significant contribution to the war effort despite rampant racism and sometimes being relegated to support assignments.

wish I could rate it lower. terribly written, awful acting, historically inaccurate, incredibly racist, offensive to African American veterans. watch only for the lolz

Good story.. I don't know how accurate or inaccurate it was but I have yet to see a accurate war movie since I was never in any war.
