Henry Fonda is restless to see actual combat during World War II, but is stuck on a cargo ship with a crew of practical jokers who torment James Cagney, their slightly crazy captain. Cagney, of course, decides to get even. Superb ensemble acting, including Jack Lemmon's Oscar-winning performance as Ensign Pulver, make this movie a much beloved classic. From Academy Award-winning director John Ford ("Stagecoach," "The Grapes of Wrath") and Mervyn LeRoy ("Little Caesar," "Gypsy"), featuring a stellar cast of screen legends: Fonda, Cagney, Lemmon and William Powell ("The Thin Man"), in his final film. Adapted by Joshua Logan ("Camelot," "Picnic") from his hit Broadway play.
