Brilliant comedian/actor Albert Brooks takes an incisive look at the state of modern relationships with charming results that are right on target. Brooks portrays Robert Cole, a Hollywood film editor whose romance with a beautiful bank officer, Mary Harvard (Kathryn Harrold), has reached a point of no return. They go their separate ways; and Robert is magnanimous in hoping that she will be happy without him - as long as she is miserable as he is without her. Robert has encountered a modern dilemma: he'd like to settle down with Mary, yet can't help wondering if there's some perfect someone out there waiting for him.
