About this movie

Disney•Pixar proudly presents the hilarious story of how two mismatched monsters met and became lifelong friends in a movie screaming with laughter and oozing with heart. Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he's dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike's plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, "Sulley" (John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair's out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University's elite Scare Program. With their dreams temporarily dashed, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.

This film really could have been so much more. Nothing funny about how boring this was. It brought about that awful situation where four of you are watching it and you get to a point where you all look at each other and someone goes for the remote. I've sat through some bad films but this is a new low. Loved the others too.

When I heard about Monsters University I was a bit disappointed that Disney/Pixar had gone back to before Monsters Inc. I need not have been worried as MU is just as much fun as Monsters Inc. Great characters that kids will love and also plenty of laughs in there for the adults aswell. It's great to see how Mike and Sully's friendship began. 5/5

2½★. I didn't dislike it exactly. It was just kinda... meh. Some good ideas but more of a miss than a hit. Maybe if had come before MI, it wouldn't have had such a high standard to live up to. As it is, probably actual kids would get something out of it but it doesn't work for a big (adult) kid like me. Highlights include when the team comes together, and the locker snaps at the end. Something to rent once in a boo moon rather than (for me) to buy and watch like crazy. ••UPDATE•• Improves slightly on the second viewing; still contrived and somewhat forced, but a better experience. I might get the twin pack after all...
