Moonrise Kingdom is the new movie directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Rushmore). Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two 12-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore -- and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in every which way. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff, Captain Sharp. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader, Scout Master Ward. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bishop. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Bob Balaban; and introduces Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as Sam and Suzy, the boy and girl.

Hated every moment of it. After absolutely loving Grand Budapest, I thought I would try try this as I had seen it get great reviews. I couldn't make it to the end, I quit with 20 minutes left.

I quite liked this film. The story and the characters are just fantastic. Wes Anderson's directing really comes into its own here. The use of the long panning shots and the imagery within the film really make it a pleasure to watch. Edward Norton is just great as the scout leader and Bill Murray shows his acting skills here as the serious and disconnected dad. Highly recommend this film. Chuckles along the way make this a joy to watch.

One of Wes Anderson's best! Every shot is exquisitely framed and filled with detail. A fabulously quirky cast of Anderson regulars and unexpected new faces like Harvey Keitel and Bruce Willis. The standout actors, however, are those playing the central characters of Sam and Suzy. 'Moonrise Kingdom' is both a comic adventure and a sweet love story.
