When reading some reviews you wonder if you watched the same film. We found this one to be really entertaining. I don't think there was one moment that didn't hold our attention. Very imaginative. The concept was so unusual. CGI worthy of any Peter Jackson film, who's one of my fave directors. Never read the books nor intend to. With the bizarrely low scores on the main review sites a sequel's very unlikely. Sad for the few of us who still view a movie mainly as a moment of good ole escapism.

A perfect example of a movie that has analogues to marmite; there are some who will call it a CGI nightmare, whilst others will call it a great example of world building. This is a film where you should ignore the reviews, and just decide for yourself if you enjoyed it. For my part, I found the story familiar, if a little weak, but enjoyed the sense of adventure and wonder that mobile cities can bring. I wish I'd heeded my own advice from above and watched this in a cinema.

Great visualisation, but butchered the story. Really surprised 🤨 , as this came from somebody who worked such great magic on the LOTR trilogy. First half was great but it became a succession of clichés, unsubstantiated plot developments and naff dialogue in the second half. Rapidly developed into an uncomfortably twee film and i had to stop watching with 20 minutes to go as i could see a massively disappointing ending looming ... Very disappointed 😥
