O lutador de MMA Cole Young, que costuma apanhar por dinheiro, não conhece sua herança, nem sabe o motivo de o Imperador da Exoterra Shang Tsung ter enviado seu melhor guerreiro, Sub-Zero, um Criomancer sobrenatural, para ir atrás dele. Temendo pela segurança de sua família, Cole vai em busca de Sonya Blade na direção de Jax, um Major das Forças Especiais que carrega a mesma estranha marca do dragão com a qual Cole nasceu. Logo ele chega ao templo do Lorde Raiden, um Deus Ancião protetor do Plano Terreno que concede santuário para os que carregam a marca. Lá, Cole treina com os experientes guerreiros Liu Kang, Kung Lao e o mercenário Kano, preparando para unir-se aos maiores campeões mundiais contra os inimigos da Exoterra em uma batalha decisiva pelo universo. Será que Cole conseguirá desbloquear sua arcana - o imenso poder de sua alma - a tempo de salvar não apenas sua família, mas também impedir a Exoterra de uma vez por todas?

Positives - Great action and fight scenes - Brutal and gory like a Mortal Kombat movie should be Negatives - Having been a fan of Mortal Kombat since I was a kid, I felt like the writers did not know which direction to go - They kept bring up the tournament, but there was no tournament. - Goro looked great, but had no real part except to die. - Like every other movie that has a "Chosen One" they use a birth mark The original movie from the 90s was far better. Merge the two would be 5 🌟!!!

I despise when studios make a franchise movie to milk the built-in fan base, but they're ashamed of the characters, so they make their own characters, usually for "representation" reasons. Since this franchise had tons of Asians already, I'm not sure why WB hated them. But clearly, they did. So you get Joe Asian-American. With a dumbass super power. I watched this on HBO Max and still wanted my money back.

Being a fan of the 95' original I had high expectations. The movie starts with the origin of my two favorite characters from the franchise only to barely see them throughout the movie. If they focus the story entirely on Scorpion and Sub-Zero instead of this new character, the movie would have been amazing. This movie was entertaining to watch once but to purchase for $25 it's a no for me. Hopefully if they make a sequel they will fix the problems.
