About this movie

In Mortal Kombat, MMA fighter Cole Young is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark. Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe. But will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana—the immense power from within his soul—in time to save not only his family, but to stop Outworld once and for all?

Expected so much more. Movie starts off good and ends well but a good half or more was very boring and could have had alot more action. I feel if we had the original film with today's graphics for fatalities it would have made for a much better film. And why does Prince Goro always die so easily 🤦‍♂️🤣😂🤣

TLDR: Is this a bad movie? No, but there are better ones. Special FX and character design were great. Fight choreography was on point as well as the fan service. However, the movie definitely could have been better. There wasn't much character development and those that did get some attention were pretty forgettable. I wanted to like this movie and I still do but it's just, OK at best.

Anyone who knows what Mortal Kombat is will probably think this movie is at least decent at best because of the characters. If you're looking for a great story, a well written dialogue and overall quality acting, this is the wrong movie for you. Be prepared for a few noticeable moments & one liners that are ultra cringeworthy. At the end of the day, just lower your expectations and enjoy it as an action/sci-fi movie with some popcorn. Side note, Scorpion was a disappointment compared to the old.
