About this movie

This story is about Truth, Beauty, Freedom... but above all... Love. Idealistic Christian (Ewan McGregor) is drawn into the dark, fantastical underworld of the Parisian nightclub, the Moulin Rouge. In this seedy but glamorous haven of sex, drugs and electricity, the poet-innocent finds himself plunged into a passionate but ultimately tragic love affair with the club's highest paid star and the city's most famous courtesan, Satin (Nicole Kidman). Directed by internationally renowned Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, Moulin Rouge is a euphorically high-style vision of a glamorous 19th century underworld captured for contemporary audiences.

Seriously. This film is in my opinion perfect. I don't want to sound soft or overly sentimental, but over 10 years since release I don't think the amazingly clever mix of popular songs which makes up the soundtrack has been bettered. It looks stunning, it sounds stunning. It is a proper cinematic experience.

Baz Luhrman is genius at Cinematography. An Emotional Extravaganza, Like Romeo and Julie, I'm surprised he didn't direct The Great Gatsby, Oh but wait.... he Did!

The cinematography is everything in this film! Classic Romeo and Juliet love story with a clever twist so it doesn't get boring. Comedy , drama ,romance and music all rolled into one ! Perfect casting , could recommend a better film!
