Toula Portokalos (Nia Vardalos) is an unmarried thirty-year-old who lives in Chicago and works in her father's Greek restaurant. When she meets and falls for high school teacher Ian Miller (John Corbett), a quick makeover and some careful manoeuvring is all it takes for the pair to start dating.
