The movie was well acted. The story centered around the question of who really was Rachel and did she have a hand in killing her husband or not, and if she did, then why would she done such a thing. All evidence suggesting she did may have been merely reflections of her husbands illness. The heir becomes obsessed with his cousin widow as he investigates her and in turn makes rash decisions and doubts his judgement of her, switching between believing her guilty and not. But the movie never really reveals whether she played a hand in his death or not. Not one being fond of cliff hangers, I only gave it it 4 stars because the ending was not satisfying to me. Otherwise I really liked the movie.

I actually like the movie better than the book.In the book I swore I would go mad if I read "my cousin Rachel " one more time .They acting ,sets and screenplay in my opinion are superb .I have never seen the original 50s version of the film so I can not compare the two.
