A poignant female ensemble comedy about four women laughing in the face of adversity. Julia Roth (Andie MacDowell), a somewhat forgotten Hollywood star, discovers she has cancer the day the West End play that was supposed to be her comeback is cancelled. While seeking treatment at a clinic, she meets three unique and remarkable British women -- an aging rocker (Sally Phillips), a young mother (Rakhee Thakrar), and a forever single, retired schoolteacher (Miriam Margolyes). Together, they help her face her new reality with humour and camaraderie while coaching her for the most challenging role she has ever played... herself.
