This is a wonderful multi-layered detective thriller that fully deserves it's classic status. Gene Hackman is superb as P.I. Harry Moseby, tracking down a missing child in a case that evolves into homicide. There are no winners at the end, which still remains devastating for a film made in the 1970s. The patchy, non HD digital encoding in this Google Play release is a bit of a letdown, nevertheless this is still a classic of the detective genre.
