Nightcrawler is a pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling -- where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars. cant take this dude serious after broke back mountain im sorry. heath ledger was good as the joker but i didnt have to see his face after brokeback cowboys either...so yea just a tip never do movies that will forever haunt you and your career lol

One thought I had leaving the theater from this movie is that I shouldn't have gone to see it alone at night and that feeling right there is what you'll experience throughout. Jake Gyllenhaal gives a performance that is so good you're glad this is just a movie. A bit dark and gruesome but the director does a good job of not getting gory and uses the imagination of the viewer to put together a lot of the scenes you're glad you didn't have to see.

I found this movie to be pretty interesting given today's climate of voyeuristic news and entertainment. Jake gives a great performance as a fame and money hungry self-started who is able to make it big by being in the right place at the right time. Viewers get a glimpse of what it would take to make it in this type of field and it was pretty intense. Overall, I liked the film, but the characters seemed thin and one-dimensional so don't expect to have your mind blown by the acting.
