No Escape is a thoroughly idiotic movie. The suspension of belief required to swallow the opening few minutes is tremendous - when the situation in the unnamed country deteriorates the character played by Owen Wilson is in a market type place purchasing a newspaper - given the riot that unleashes all around him, and given his distinctly western appearance (the insurrection was sparked by a US company stealing the water of the country) it would be impossible for him to escape the street, let alone the country. A more logical event would have for him to have been beaten to death on that street and his family murdered in the hotel. Still, he miraculously makes it out of the clutches of a few hundred rioting locals! This kind of stupidity pervades the entire movie. If I'd had to pay to watch this drivel I'd have demanded a refund. The characters are irritating, having a worn looking Pierce Brosnan pop up to save the day was lamentable. The plot, the characters, the writing, the direction - it was dire.

What a let down. It was the one thing I wanted to escape from but I was with family and friends. I really should be asking for my money back. Considering the write-up I was really very disappointed. To be honest I really grudge giving it one star. I think it's high time the movie industry had an, anti hype ombudsman, where one can go and get ones money back and fines are incurred on those who hype films when they don't match up to the hype. Sorry!! definitely not my cup of tea!! Still, we all have different tastes and therefore I give you my humble opinion.

Thoroughly enjoyed this film, with a lot of tense moments. I'm not a huge Owen Wilson fan, but this is one of only 2 films (other film being Wedding Crashers) that I liked him in. I would highly recommend this film.
