First half of the movie was fairly engaging (ignore those critics who slam it for not following the book...). Second half was a relentless dirge. I would sooner nail my private parts to a burning building than watch this train smash again. Just a pity I can't delete it from my library to hide the shame of buying it.

Darren Aronofsky is a great director as proven with Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler and Black Swan. However I don't believe he is as good when the source material is written by himself. His best works are uncommonly written by him or only have the screenplay adaption made by him; I believe this allows him the time to perfect these movies to a higher standard, perhaps because he isn't as attached to them. Who knows? But this movie is as bad as The Fountain. That said what I do like about all his movies is the divisive results after viewing them. Currently this movie has roughly 150 votes for each star value in the review section. There are few creatives in Hollywood today who can achieve this critical smorgasbord of tastes. For this reason even though I disliked this film, you should really make up your own mind on it.

What even was this film it's an insult to the bible. How they managed to make such an awful film out of such a great cast idek. Don't buy I can think of a million other things I'd rather go spend my money on.
