‘Northern Soul’ is the story of a youth culture in the 1970’s, which changed a generation. No longer satisfied with the prospect of a small town life and a factory production line two young boys dream of going to America to discover rare records which will help them become the best DJ’s on the scene. I travelled to Wigan regularly during this period and we didn't do the drugs, we luved the music. This film ruins the memory with so much focus on drugs, the music is still great but film producers please

The female characters are cardboard cutouts, none of the male protagonists are in any way likeable and the pacing is glacial, but the visual design is worth it. Fun if you like suppressed males prone to violent outbursts.

First hour is good, and the scene where they first enter the Casino to Duke Browner is absolutely magical.Unfortunately its downhill from there and it peters out lamely.
