‘Northern Soul’ is the story of a youth culture in the 1970’s, which changed a generation. No longer satisfied with the prospect of a small town life and a factory production line two young boys dream of going to America to discover rare records which will help them become the best DJ’s on the scene. Notes et avis

The female characters are cardboard cutouts, none of the male protagonists are in any way likeable and the pacing is glacial, but the visual design is worth it. Fun if you like suppressed males prone to violent outbursts.

Yes the choice of records could have been more mainstream for me but I thought it was good. Captured a broad understanding of the cult and era, it could have been my documentary. Yoh need to look as broad into this movie as the originator did, could not have been better, apart from the choice of songs, but just my opinion.

Had to keep reminding myself this was a film and not a documentary about the Northern Soul movement. Musical history buffs will love this. Attention to detail is amazing. Took me back to the 70's. If you don't know Northern Soul, watch the film. If you were there.....watch the film!!!
