Acerca de esta película

Ten years ago, tragedy struck the Russell family, leaving the lives of teenage siblings Tim and Kaylie forever changed when Tim was convicted of the brutal murder of their parents.

Now in his 20s, Tim is newly released from protective custody and only wants to move on with his life; but Kaylie, still haunted by that fateful night, is convinced her parents’ deaths were caused by something else altogether: a malevolent supernatural force unleashed through the Lasser Glass, an antique mirror in their childhood home.

Determined to prove Tim’s innocence, Kaylie tracks down the mirror, only to learn similar deaths have befallen previous owners over the past century. With the mysterious entity now back in their hands, Tim and Kaylie soon find their hold on reality shattered by terrifying hallucinations, and realize, too late, that their childhood nightmare is beginning again...

An interesting narrative style in which past and present storylines merge into one, but could have played out just as well psychologically, without the mystic mirror maguffin. They missed a trick by not getting Caitlin Blackwood (who played the young version of Karen Gillan's Amelia Pond from Doctor Who) to play the young Kaylie Russell. There is also no titular octopus in it. Oh, wait.

If you like your horror extra mild then this is for you. With little terror or psychological thrills, the horror in Oculus comes purely from its inventive story. Though the editing style can leave you wondering what exactly is going on, in the end, it still gets the basic points across. 6/10 Interesting Story but lacking in any real terror

Multilayered, dizzying horror that plays with the viewers perceptions. Superb acting, especially from the young cast. The really dread here comes not from the haunted mirror, but from the terror that children experience as their home becomes unsafe and their parents stop nurturing them. In my opinion it's a masterpiece that belongs in the same category as The Shining.
