Eric Liddell’s journey to gold medal glory in the 1924 Paris Olympics inspired millions, but this was just the beginning of his extraordinary life story. After the Olympics, Liddell (JOSEPH FIENNES) returns to his birthplace in China. His life there as a schoolteacher is overshadowed by the Japanese invasion in 1937, which brings great suffering to the Chinese people as another World War looms. Liddell recognises the increasing danger, but decides to stay and help the civilian victims, continuing to serve and inspire even after being imprisoned in a Japanese internment camp. Liddell, also known as the Flying Scotsman, is now commemorated in a monument in China and his immortal legacy of perseverance and hope continues to this day.
