À propos de ce film

Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) make their way around an industry they hardly recognize anymore. The ninth film from the writer-director features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood’s golden age. Collector's Edition synopsis: The 2-disc 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Collector’s Edition includes an all-new, exclusive mini edition of MAD Magazine – inspired by the film – a 45 vinyl record with two of the soundtrack’s grooviest tunes (complete with the turntable adaptor), and a collectible vintage poster from the film. This movie was a great disappointment. DiCaprio incapable of being in a scene without a cigarette. Almost constant music/supposed to be in the 60's/couldn't recognize most of songs. Lots of scenes of shoes, driving in a car (killed a lot of time), some scenes too dark to makeout who or what was going on. Several blonde ladies and got them mixed up as to who they were. Did recognize Sharon Tate only because she was pregnant. Tarantino must have been stoned out while writing this movie script.

I didn't know much about the movie aside from the general premise, and even not having expectations, I was so thoroughly disappointed with this long-winded, meandering, pointless film. There was no story, just the everyday lives of people that I didn't really care about, not saying much of anything, driving around for 1/3 of the film, and showing dirty feet everywhere. I couldn't believe this was the same director. For those that enjoyed this film, I don't understand what you found redeeming in it. I do recognize that those involved acted their hearts out, but they weren't given much to work with. Margot Robbie's role was so completely pointless and forgettable that it would have been better just to take her out of the film. Aside from the really obvious moments where she explains who she is, there is nothing about the character that develops her personality. This was a huge misstep. Don't waste your time watching this clunker.

As with most QT films, there are a lot of extended dialogues scenes. In his other films these scenes worked to create tension, melodrama, or character development. I felt in this film, these scenes were too long and mostly pointless. There are really two endings, one with action the other with a slow wind down. Ultimately when the credits rolled, it left me thinking "ehhhh that's it?" Worth renting, as the 60's scenery is well done and interesting. Brad Pitt is good as is Leo DC.
